Finally, the last bench of the Alpe di Siusi bench series.
It is another bench dedicated to a person. Also this one is pretty close to the cable car station in Compatsch on Alpe di Siusi. A nice wooden bench with a traditional wooden crox behind.
The thing which made me really curious was the name graved in to the bench. It is “Yoshiatsu Nagatani” from Tokyo on his 60th birthday (3.09.2008). How the heck does a Japanese guy from Tokyo gets his name graved into a bench in a remote place like Combatsch, Italy on Alpe di Siusi?
It is not easy to find out more about Yoshiatsu Nagatani. Only a few places where he is mentioned. Of course with the bench. It seems that the background for the bench dedication was the foundation of a Kneipp (or for my Singaporean relatives: Icewater walking) pool in Castelrotto (Kastelruth), which is at the bottom of the Alpe di Siusi. Furthermore, he was a member of a Japanese club in Tokyo called the “Alpenjodelerkameraden” (Yodel Comrades of the Alps).
Interesting what comes up when you look at benches a bit closer.
