One possibility to get back to the Alpe di Siusi plateau from the Schlern House is via the Tierser Alm and descending from there.
To get to the “gate” for the descent you pass by the Tierser Alm (of course you will have a stop inside and by the way, the Tierser Alm is a very nice, newly stylishly renovated Alm), then still some 50m altitude uphill until you get to the “Horseteethpass” (Rosszahnscharte).
This place is at an altitude of 2490m, marking the pathway through the so called “Horseteeth” (Rosszähne) mountain group. And right here someone has placed a bench.
At this altitude you have already passed the timberline and all over the place are just rocks. The more impressive it is that this bench is made out of wood. I would imagine that the designers of this bench collected the few tree trunks which might have been close by, carried them up here and combined them, combined them to a unique piece of bench-art. On one side the trail to the Tierser Alm and on the other side it is going steep down to the Alpe di Siusi. The bench gives you a last chance to take a seat and prepare for the downhill ride. Of course if you would have taken the tour the other way round, ascending from the Alpe di Siusi, you would have deserved to take a rest here.
Which every way you reached this place, exhausted from uphill-fight or approaching the descent from the Tierser Alm, it is worth to take a seat and enjoy the fantastic view. Alpe di Siusi spreading its entire beauty in front of you, concluded by the Puflatsch plateau on the right side and the Schlern Groupe on the left side with its two distinctive peaks.
