Bench disappeared at Kampenwand

Here ist a picture of a bench on the “Kampenwand”, a well known place for hikers in southern Bavaria. The bench invites us to look toward the Austrian Mountains.

The funny thing with this bench was, that we hiked a little further and when returning back to this bench an hour later, it was gone. This was one of the last sunny days in October 2015 before the snow should arrive and therefore workers had taken away the little bench up there in order to protect the wooden bench from the snow.

There is a Bavarian saying about the Kampenwand which I always have to remember when I am up there. It goes as follows: “I gang gern auf die Kampenwand wenn I mit meiner Wampen kannt.” / “I would love to hike up the Kampenwall if my beer belly would alow me at all.” Fortunaly they have also a cable car that can take you up there 😉

What a great bench story. I never thought that so much life can be brought to an otherwise unassuming topic like benches. Thank you for joining the club of benchers. Dear Jutta, don’t heaitate to add a photo of the bench itself only and a second one with a view into the landscape from the bench.
