Lechwoodswing

There is a fairly new constructed hiking path in the “Allgäu”, in the south of Germany. The hiking route leads 125 km through a beautiful mountain area. The path leads from the source of the river Lech, upon 1800m of hight, to the waterfall in Füssen, close to the Forggensee, a huge lake into which the river Lech flows.

The most interesting experience following the “Lechweg” (this is the name of the hiking route) is that it is about long-distance-hiking , not going uphill, which I am used to. You may reach 700  meters of hight within one day, but you follow the river, which includes various hiking routes  close to the water through the valley as well.

In June 2015 I hiked there together with my friend Antje and my brother Mike. We seamed to be the first hikers this year since we hardly ever saw other people along the route, which we really enjoyed.

We decided to turn around the classical walking route, which means we walked from the city (Füssen) towards the source of the river. This gave us the opportunity to relax little by little since we hiked from the busy city into narrow valley and basically up hill. From busy life towards the more green. The beautiful sights and sunny meadows surprised us step by step.

After a couple of days we found this bench. In Germany we know a “Hollywoodswing”, which is a swing that seats 2 people and has the look of a sofa. In the Valley of the Lech river we found what they call a “Lechwoodswing”. A wooden bench, local wood, hung up on chains and looking familiar to a classical “Hollywoodswing”

Here it is, inviting us to rest a little.

Great post, but I did not know that you have amother brother called Mike. How did you hide him all the while. I guess we have to find a way to display the correct writer of the post, in case we have a guest writer?
