Maibaum-Bankerl in Gauting 1st of May 2017

In Bavaria there is a tradition to setup a tree trunk on 1st of May in each community. The trunk is nicely decorated and colored in blue-white stripes (the colors of Bavaria, representing the blue sky and white clouds, but the true story is that the colors origin from Greece. But that is a different story…)

According to German law this tree needs to be removed / renewed at least every 5 years.

So, what to do with the “old” Maibaum?

Reusing it as a bench is the best way to recycle it.

It was sold to the highest bidder, i.e. for 250 Eur. And most probably can be found now in a garden in Gauting.

Check out how it looks …
