MAMAC in Nice

These benches can be found in Nice – in the Musée d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain(MAMAC): They are part of the piece of art by Tania Muraud. It is named “Melancholia-P-T1” and is realized specifically for the MAMAC.

The idea is that the visitor sits down and realizes that the graphics on the wall are block letters and blanks stretched to the limit of legibility.

This is a text from the opera “Tosca” by Giacomo Puccini: “L’ore e fuggita e muoio disperato e non e amato tanto la vita“ (the time is over now and I am dying in despair and I have never loved the life more)

The text relates to the terrible event on 14 July 2016, when a truck was deliberately driven into crowds of people celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, resulting in the deaths of 86 people and the injury of 458 others

Benches of a different kind. It is a surprise how much unique benches there are around the world. Thanks for the contribution.
