The benches of Doi Mon Cham

Doi means “hill” in the Thailanguage.

Mon Cham is a rather famous hill in the region of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand.

There are many reasons why Doi Mon Cham is so famous.

It is cool up there, those who suffered under the heat of Chiang Mai, can imagine, what that means for the people in and around Chiang Mai.

The king and queen have initiated a few of there many farming projects high up in Mon Cham. Local coffee and strawberries are grown high up in the hills. The farms provide livelihood to the hill tribes of the region.

Once you are up there, you do not want to leave anymore. It is not about being spectacular, there are more spectacular mountain views around the planet, it is about the calm atmosphere, which makes the place worth the visit.

As you can see, they haven’t been stingy with benches either. There is ample space to sit and rest and internalize the views.

We have spent about 2 hours, just relaxing, making photos and starring down the mountain while sitting on the various benches.

It is a pity that my camera could not capture the beautiful terraces of the coffee plantations.

But at least I could nicely capture the variety of benches up there on Doi Monday Cham.

… and still deliver an impression, what you get when you visit Doi Mon Cham.

If you want to get more pictures or some other perspectives about Mon Cham, TripAdvisor has pretty much to say about Mon Cham.

I was already wondering when the first bench from the Chang Mai trip will hit the benchmark blog. And what a great selection. I like the long bamboo bench. I think the first bamboo-bench. But also the others really unique styles.

Thank you for the recognition. I have been absent from Benchmark for a while, but the benches from Doi Monday Cham I didn’t want to miss on our blog,
