It is an exception. Usually we do not post benches with people on it (just about personal rights). However, if you walk by a bench a 100 times and you never find it empty, and you probably walk by another 1000 times and it will never be without people. Finally, you have to take this compromise. Just imagine, you are asking 5 aged Sienesi (not sure whether this is the right expression for the inhabitants of Siena). So, you ask 5 Sienesi (as the bench only carries 5, max 6 people) to leave the bench because YOU want to take a picture of that bench without them. THEM, who are probably sitting every day on that bench since years, watching the people go by. To be honest, I was not brave enough to ask them.
The bench is basically located at the entrance to the world famous piazza of Siena, where the horse races take place, with the view on the tower of Siena. Probably one of the most beautiful places of the world. I hope the picture provides some idea of that place (and the bench).
But have a look at the Sienesi occupying the bench. They most likely have seen the tower and the place for so long and they rather watch out for other beauties 😉
